Newport Elementary School Historic Renovation and Preservation
Originating as a WPA project to replace a former wood structure, this 1930’s all concrete campus was the first elementary school in the District. Following years as a valued and unique presence located right on the beach, the wind and tide had taken enough of a toll to merit a complete historic modernization. Every detail, down to the bell tower and copper cupola, has been carefully restored to provide many more years of supportive educational excellence.
